Zoe (Jennifer Lopez) joins a group of single mothers called “Single, Mothers, and Proud” led by a woman named Carol (Melissa McCarthy). Someone asks Zoe if she is already a mother or if she is becoming one. Zoe replies that she was just inseminated a few days ago and makes a joke about feeling like a cow. The other women don’t seem to find it funny. Then, Carol asks Zoe to talk a little bit more about herself. Zoe says that she works at a pet store and that she is very happy in the professional aspect of her life but regarding her love life, she still hasn’t found “the one”. She always thought she would be married with a kid by now. But since she isn’t, she decided to go with her backup plan and have a kid by herself. Carol tells her that the women of “Single, Mothers, and Proud” will be there for her though all her pregnancy.

What’s the The Back-Up Plan movie about?
Tired of waiting for a hypothetical Prince Charming, Zoe (Jennifer Lopez from Gigli and Hustlers) has decided to make a baby on her own. On the very day of the insemination, she meets Stan (Alex O'Loughlin from Hawaii Five-0), who could be the man of her dreams. Zoe quickly realizes that starting a pregnancy and a love story at the same time is rather complicated, especially when the man is not the father of the child, and moreover he does not even know that she is pregnant. On his side, Stan has a hard time understanding Zoe, who tries to hide the first signs of her pregnancy. They don't know anything about each other, each one has his own doubts, the baby will be here soon and life is trying to put them in the most impossible situations. Anyone can fall in love, get married and have a baby. But taking things in reverse and starting with the baby is another adventure...
