Camel is an American brand of cigarettes that was first started in 1913 by the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, and still to this day, within the United States, RJR is the producer of the brand. However, outside of the United States, that is not the case, as Japan Tobacco purchased the international rights to the nameplate in 1999, and so, within Mexico, and all other countries around the world, the brand is instead produced by JT or JTI.
