Growing up in Los Angeles definitely had its advantages. When I was very young, I was lucky enough to meet the greatest voice over artist of all time. Mel Blanc. At the time, I was collecting tapes of old time radio shows and had dozens on which Mel had appeared. As Mel had very few of those tapes, I offered to make him copies. I would bring the tapes to his office, a short bike ride from my house. In turn, he would take me to lunch from time to time and our friendship grew. Mel wound up appearing in several of my early video projects and even got me hired to do a voice over on a cartoon with him. He was so kind, he even agreed to do this... my outgoing answering machine message.
