The above presented lot no. 90 comes from the oeuvre of artist Raqib Shaw, whose works are intricately detailed depicting a gloriously opulent world. They reflect an underlying charge that is skillfully masked under the richly detailed layers of colourful enamel paints. He often incorporates gems, rhinestones and glitter to his works which add to their extravagant appeal.
Some of his solo exhibitions include ‘Garden of Earthly Delights’ at Victoria Miro Gallery, London in 2004, ‘Absence Of God’, White Cube at London Hoxton Square in 2009 and ‘Raqib Shaw: Reinventing the Old Masters’ at Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in 2018. The artist lives and works in London.
