Описание к видео Lancashire& Yorkshire Memories - Part 5 - Manchester-Liverpool-Southport

A video based solely in Lancashire where ex L&Y lines criss-crossed the county, bounded by MANCHESTER in the east. LIVERPOOL in the west and SOUTH¬PORT and PRESTON in the north.
Covering all main lines it follows steam traction from 1964 to 1968 over mainly the L&Y routes but some ex LNWR lines are also included, in this generally clockwise tour around Lancashire.
From MANCHESTER VICTORIA the LNWR route to ECCLES and PATRICROFT is taken where unique footage of "LION" is seen. On the coalfields of WALKDEN for a North Staffs tank engine, scenes at WIGAN Waligate and EARLSTOWN to St.HELENS and DITTON JUNCTION. A journey by push-pull service via WARRINGTON precedes arrival at LIVERPOOL. Speke Junction and Edge Hill sheds are visited.
Through the nvirons of Liverpool to BOOTLE and SOUTH¬PORT. 1964 scenes with steam on the CROSSENS and HESKETH BANK line.
The other route to PRESTON from Exchange to BURSCOUGH for memories of the last Black 5 passenger trains in 1967 and 1968. Finally the WIGAN to LIVERPOOL route with 2-6-4 tanks close this nostalgic look at steam around Lancashire.

This tape has authentic sound tracking and an informative but not intrusive commentary.
