UC Santa Cruz Research on Harmful Algal Blooms

Описание к видео UC Santa Cruz Research on Harmful Algal Blooms

UC Santa Cruz ocean scientist Raphael Kudela leads research and monitoring programs to study and track harmful algal blooms in Monterey Bay and southern California. In this video he describes an extensive bloom of toxic algae along the West Coast that first appeared in early May 2015. Extending from Santa Barbara to Alaska, the unusually large and long-lasting bloom has poisoned wildlife and forced the closure of shellfish harvesting and other fisheries along the West Coast.
