Amtrak Long Distance Trains of the West

Amtrak’s long distance passenger trains make up the framework of the United States passenger rail network. They provide a critical connection between larger cities and rural communities all over the country. The western half of the network features about a half dozen different routes that pass through some of the most spectacular scenery of the entire passenger rail system. In this video, I’d like to take a look at several of Amtrak’s long distance passenger trains as they travel though cities as well as wide open landscapes. Included in this video are scenes of the Coast Starlight, Empire Builder, California Zephyr, Southwest Chief, Sunset Limited, and the Texas Eagle.
