How to Photograph Products for an Online Store | ETSY Product Photography Tips

Having engaging and good-looking listing photos is extremely important if you want to capture the attention of potential buyers. Product photography can make or break your store, so I wanted to make this video to help you improve your pictures and hopefully increase your sales!

In this video, I break down three important subjects that make up a successful listing photo: lighting, your camera, and your background.

However, I don't want you to go out and spend an arm and a leg on fancy new equipment, so I break down some different ways that you can pull this off right at home.

Lighting: 0:36
Lighting is arguably the most important part of ETSY product photography, so if you don't listen to anything else, listen to the first section on lighting. I break down how to set up your lights and give your important tips on how to fully illuminate your subject with proper light placement.

Camera: 3:44
Luckily, most everyone has access to a nice camera right in their pocket! That's right... you can easily use your smartphone to take high-quality photos.

In addition to the quality of your camera, you want to make sure that you compose your photos with intention. That is where the rule of thirds comes into play! 5:02

Background: 6:34
Making a clean white background is super easy to do at home. All you need is some paper or poster board and you are good to go! In most situations, I would recommend a white background for ETSY listings because ETSY really favors them, but of course, everyone is different and you may need something else!
