I always admired the switchback on real RR's and given the sloped yard where my RR is built I just had to have one. I found a spot and with some engineering I managed to squeeze it in. This switchback also serves as a way to reverse a train and have it run in the opposite direction. I usually run trains clockwise but this feature allows a short train to turn and run counter clockwise. My RR is track powered and with the use of a DPDT switch it was not that difficult to wire this. In this video my MOW track cleaning train runs the Switchback.
