Sennheiser XS Wireless 2: XW2-835 vs XSW-835 - Microphone Demo & Comparison

In this video, we take a look at the new Sennheiser XS Wireless 2 (XSW2-835) wireless microphone system, and compare with the original XS Wireless (XSW-835). Both microphones are equipped with the Sennheiser 835 capsule, and were tested using identical settings and methods.

Under the microscope, the original XS Wireless doesn't sound great at all. It's definitely one thing to listen to a dynamic mic recorded and played back, as opposed to at an extremely loud volume, live, through a loudspeaker setup.

Ironically, as great as the narration microphone sounds by comparison, the Rode NT1 would be an awful choice for any live setting because it's such a revealing microphone. In other words, the NT1 would have zero noise rejection (dynamic vs condenser sensitivity) and feedback like crazy (bipolar pickup pattern vs cardioid) if placed into a live setting. The XS Wireless 2, to my ears, is the best of both worlds at this price point.
