Bad days of Shiromani Akali Dal started in the year 2022 itself. When Shiromani Akali Dal got only three seats in the assembly elections. The most important thing was that the late Prakash Singh Badal, the founder of SAD, lost from his own Lambi seat. But even in the Lok Sabha elections, SAD could not perform well. Out of 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, Akali Dal won only 1 seat. This seat was won by Sukhbir Badal's wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal from Bathinda. After the disappointing performance in the Lok Sabha elections, voices of rebellion have started rising in the SAD. Many senior leaders of the Akali Dal have opened a front against the party president Sukhbir Badal. The leaders demand that Sukhbir should resign taking responsibility for the party's defeat in Punjab in the Lok Sabha elections.

पंजाब में शिरोमणि अकाली दल पर संकट के बादल छाए हुए हैं. साल 2022 में ही शिरोमणि अकाली दल के बुरे दिन शुरू हो गए थे. जब शिरोमणि अकाली दल को विधानसभा चुनाव में सिर्फ तीन ही सीट मिली थी. सबसे अहम बात तो ये थी कि शिअद के कर्ताधर्ता रहे दिवंगत प्रकाश सिंह बादल अपनी लंबी सीट से ही हार गए थे. लेकिन लोकसभा चुनाव में भी शिअद कुछ खास प्रदर्शन नहीं कर पाया. पंजाब की 13 लोकसभा सीटों में से अकाली दल को सिर्फ 1 सीट पर जीत मिली. ये सीट सुखबीर बादल की पत्नी हरसिमरत कौर बादल ने बठिंडा जीती है. लोकसभा चुनाव में निराशाजनक प्रदर्शन के बाद शिअद में बगावत के सुर उठने लगे हैं. अकाली दल के कई वरिष्ठ नेताओं ने पार्टी के अध्यक्ष सुखबीर बादल के खिलाफ मोर्चा खोल दिया है. नेताओं के मांग है कि लोकसभा चुनावों में पंजाब में पार्टी की हार की जिम्मेदारी लेते हुए सुखबीर को इस्तीफा देना चाहिए.
