To my surprise, instead of praise, my boss was taken aback. He couldn't believe what I had accomplished, asking incredulously, "Who are you?" I thought he meant, "Who authorized you to do this?" but he clarified, "Who are you to think like this?" Turns out, nobody had prompted me; I simply approached it as I would my own business. My boss was astounded by my initiative, particularly given the millions of dollars at stake.

From then on, our dynamic shifted. My boss involved me in decision-making, impressed by my understanding of the business's needs. Together, we tackled the liabilities, negotiating and reassessing our assets. It was a transformative experience that led to a more collaborative approach within the company.
