Lars Ulrich explains why they decided to sue Elektra records over the rights to own their material. Metallica would wind up settling with Elektra out of court, keeping the rights to own their masters, plus getting a higher royalty payment for their music. This management switch at Elektra was also the reason that Anthrax got dropped by the label. Metallica stayed with Elektra until 2012.
