In Nigeria there are millions of smallholder households/farmers and indigenous communities working to improve their livelihoods in an environment characterised by dwindling government support and increased competition between producers, processing companies and retailers within agricultural markets. These competition between players within the same value chains leads to concentration of powers in parts to the detriment of the other players leading to overall sub-optimal performance for all.

Therefore, the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) has collaborated with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) towards an evidence-based sensitisation campaign in Nigeria titled: “Moving from Farm Pain to Farm Gain” and the passage of the Warehouse Bill, Seed Bill and Fertiliser bill.
