Hey everyone—Lee here, software engineer and the creator of CryptoTicr.

Over the first five months of 2025, I went deep into the codebase and overhauled a lot of the internals, especially the initial Wi-Fi setup process. While I was in there, I figured it was time to add some cool new features and polish things up a bit. Here's a quick rundown of what’s new:

1. Smarter Coin Search (Autocomplete):
With thousands of coins now floating around and some overlapping names and ticker symbols (like "ETH" being both a name and a symbol), finding the right one could be confusing. The new autocomplete feature helps you quickly pick the exact coin you want—no more guessing.

2. Much Faster Screen Updates:
Screen redraws are now 4x faster—what used to take about a second now happens in just a quarter second. It makes everything feel a lot snappier.

3. Expanded Icon Support:
Originally, we stored icons for around 100 popular coins. With this update 170 more icons have just been added, bringing us to 270 total.

4. Market Cap Display Option:
You can now choose to show either volume or market cap on screen, or hide both if you want a cleaner look.

5. Color Schemes – and Not Just for Accessibility:
I started with the goal of helping those with colorblindness, but ended up going all in. There are now a bunch of new color schemes—including some wild ones just for fun.

6. Reset Buttons
The configuration web page now includes a set of four buttons to help you manage the device more easily. You can reboot the ticker, reset just the display settings (without touching Wi-Fi), erase the stored Wi-Fi credentials (while keeping display preferences), or do a full factory reset.

7. More System Info for Nerds Like Me:
There’s now extra data shown in the header/footer, and also some small gray icons shown toward the bottom of the screen that show very detailed info about the system. I originally built this for my own coding and debugging purposes, but figured some of you might like the peek under the hood.

8. Revamped Wi-Fi Setup with Better Feedback:
The Wi-Fi setup process has been nearly completely rewritten to give more feedback and the page now includes enhanced and detailed explanations of common Wi-Fi pitfalls.

If you already own a CryptoTicr, then you already have all of these new features with the latest automatic firmware update (v1.11) that went out June 2025.
