A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking to restrain the trademark registration of the name "Operation Sindoor". The controversy stems from the fact that this name is associated with India’s recent military operation, in which nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir were destroyed.

The PIL has been filed by Dev Ashish Dubey against applicants who submitted Trademark Application TM-1 under Class 41, which pertains to education and entertainment services, seeking to register the name "Operation Sindoor".

What makes the issue more prominent is that Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries also filed a similar trademark application for "Operation Sindoor" on May 7. However, following public outrage, the company withdrew the application and issued an official statement clarifying that the filing was done by a junior employee without approval.
