May Nagahisa - Sugarplum Fairy Variation from The Nutcracker - The Mariinsky Theatre - YAGP Alumni

May Nagahisa, First Soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre, performs the Sugarplum Variation from Act 2 of The Nutcracker, with choreographed by Vasily Vainonen.

May's rise is meteoric for a dancer at one of the world's leading theaters. After receiving a scholarship to the famous Princess Grace Academy at the YAGP Finals in 2012, May then graduated from the Academy in 2012 and joined the Mariinsky Theatre. Shortly after, she was named one of Dance Media Publications "25 to Watch." In 2018, May jumped from a trainee position at Mariinsky to the rank of Second Soloist at the young age of 18. She became a First Soloist in 2021 at 21 and landed a spot on Forbes JAPAN's 30 Under 30. She is one of the many young and foreign talents rising in Russia.
