Tanmay Gupta from Jammu and Kashmir created history by becoming the first ever from the UT to top the NEET 2021 exams in the country. He shares the top rank with two others -- Mrinal Kutteri and Karthika Nair. 18-year-old Tanmay Gupta scored the perfect 720 out of 720 along with to rank at number one among the over 16 lakh aspirants who took NEET 2021 held on September 12. Srinagar city has been added to the UNESCO creative cities Network (UCCN) 2021 in recognition of its craft and folk art. The announcement was made by UCCN in a notification published on UNESCO’s website, where it was said that the global body decided to include 49 cities along with Srinagar from India in the network, in order to recognise, and honour them for perpetuating and preserving their age-old cultures and traditions while focusing on development. Underprivileged people in Kathua district of J&K are getting benefitted by the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). They are provided affordable pucca houses. The beneficiary appreciated the government for helping them construct pucca houses as they used to face many difficulties. The local administration identifies the needy families and helps them construct pucca houses. Indian Army in collaboration with Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) organised a sports event for Para Athletes in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir. Para Athletes from across the Kashmir Valley participated and showcased their sporting talents. Participants appreciated the Indian Army for organising the event. Jammu and Kashmir Administration organised 5-day long National Artists Camp, a painting workshop and calligraphy exhibition in Srinagar to promote local artists. The event was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy for Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) at an art gallery in Srinagar. The artists presented live demonstration of their art work at the event.
