Hamas continues to be slow in returning the last 13 bodies of slain Israeli hostages, with Jerusalem claiming the delays are deliberate. The Israeli government has now allowed the Red Cross and Egyptian teams to join Hamas operatives in searching for the hostage bodies across the new “Yellow Line” dividing Gaza between the Hamas and IDF sectors. 

Meanwhile, the Trump administration has been rushing ahead with the second phase of their 20 point peace plan by setting up a command center in Kiryat Gat from where troops from America and other countries will oversee the ceasefire in Gaza. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio quickly followed up Vice President JD Vance in visiting Israel to push these efforts along.

The Trump’s team’s full court press is causing concern among many Israelis, however, that the country is turning into a ‘client state’ of Washington, especially after President Trump criticized a Knesset bill to declare sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed these concerns, saying Israel is an independent country and the sovereignty bill vote was a political trick by his opponents.
