Azores Adventure Continues!

It's a short two-day sail from the Azorean Island of Santa Maria to Faial where our friends are waiting in the little city of Horta. I met Ian and Dasha of ‪@sailingladyaquitaine‬ in Curaçao in 2021, saw them again in the Chesapeake (US) in 2023 and was delighted to meet them after their arduous crossing from the US to the Azores. We enjoyed their company and the beautiful sights of Faial, but when the weather looked promising for a passage to the UK, we departed immediately.

Unfortunately, our good weather window turned into a bit of nightmare as we experienced several near knockdowns in one blow and endured similar blows every three days. So much for weather forecasting. Special thanks to Ann and Elliott Walsh for their excellent weather routing! It would have been much worse without their generous help and extensive knowledge.
