GB enjoys sitting in boxes, while Phoebe prefers to demolish them. So this time, I saved a variety of boxes and let GB choose one—without Phoebe. Watch and see what happened!

GB and I have a lot of routines to keep him exercised, mentally stimulated, and to have quality bonding time together. One of our favorites is a little play session before bedtime. When I put the foster kittens up and let the pups out for their last potty break, GB always knows it’s time. As soon as I shut the back door, he jumps off my desk and approaches me with a big downward-dog stretch, like he’s warming up for playtime.

Because toys are hit or miss with him, we came up with a “hunting game.” I set out boxes and tunnels, and GB gets ready while I toss a treat. Sometimes I throw it into one of the boxes, sometimes into the air so he can catch it. I also mix in a few tricks like “paw” and “spin” for a reward. He gets to hunt, chase, catch, and eat—satisfying his natural cat instincts.

I also love that it helps him burn off energy and settle down with a little food in his tummy before bed. Since we adopted him, the only nights he’s been restless while we were sleeping were the ones we skipped our midnight playtime.
