One of the easiest mistakes to make in business is forgetting to love on the people who already chose you.

I heard a story recently that stuck with me.
An agent had been sending a lender deals for years. When it came time to support a client appreciation event, the response was essentially, “We’ll do the minimum because things haven’t been as active lately.”

What got missed?

Half the room had already done business with that lender.

That’s not just about an event.
That’s about perspective.

The partnerships that got you where you are don’t stop mattering just because you’re focused on what’s next. If anything, they matter more.

Strong relationships aren’t built on spikes of attention.
They’re built on consistency, respect, and showing up even when it’s easy to assume the relationship is “secure.”

Yes, you should always be cultivating your next 10 prospects.
But never at the expense of the partners who trusted you first.

Retention is leadership.
Appreciation is strategy.
And longevity in this business belongs to the people who never take alignment for granted.
