Описание к видео Dealing with late fees at the DMV office

Department of Motor Vehicles late fees.
Every proud owner of a vehicle needs to pay the registration fees for his or her car. Anywhere in the world you will be prepared to pay a small fee, so you can use your vehicle on the public roads. This fees are not very high, and you should be able to pay it on time, every time.
There are situation when you are late, or you might buy a vehicle from an owner, an Auctioneer, or a lien sale and you are not aware of the late fees. You could also buy a vehicle from a person that would try to hide these unpaid fees. Always check before you buy your vehicle, by getting the registration or the Vehicle Identification Number to the authorities to see if the registration is current, or how much would cost to bring it up to date.
Here is what happened to me:
I purchased a vehicle, a commercial truck, a while ago at a lien sale. I did not prepare myself with all the details of such purchase, so I didn’t know about the late fees. It turns out that the previous owner was deceased, and the family did not keep the registration current, or switch the registration to a no-operable. I went to the DMV to get the vehicle registered, I started the registration for a small amount, and they started the investigation of how many late fee were issued against that vehicle. Within a week the DMV told me that I have to pay almost $16,000 in late fees for that commercial vehicle! They calculated the last four years of late fees and penalties, when the vehicle didn't even move!
So, here I was, stuck with an enormous bill. I tried to talk to the DMV, but they told me that they can't remove late fees or penalties. I explained to them that the vehicle was not in my possession for the last 4 years, but they didn't care. All they care was that the previous owner was gone, so they couldn't charge a dead person the penalties, and they will pass anything to me, as a person who purchased the vehicle and I was in their records. They even threatened me with collection, which would ruin my credit.
I was devastated, to say the least. I called my lawyer, and he told me that with all the attorney fees and costs, even if we won, it will still be around $15,000, plus the stress and the wasted time. It looked to me that I had no choice but to pay a huge amount of money for a vehicle that I didn't wanted anymore.
And when I thought there's no more hope, I got an amazing help through a great advice!

The solution to my $16,000 problem was: Recycling the Vehicle at a Certified Scrap Yard! I had to tow it to a recycle place, that cut it into pieces, and they also sent the DMV the prove that the car was destroyed, so the DMV void all the fees and penalties! This way, I proved that I have never used the vehicle, I just bought it to have it scraped at the metal yard recycling center. Nobody has told me that I can do that, when I was looking for solutions at the DMV office...
At the end, this was a great fix to my problem, and a huge financial and emotional relief.
And this, my friends, was my story about how I escaped being charged a huge amount of money in penalties and late fees by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
