With so many evolving techniques in the loc community, it’s easy to get confused about which service offers what. Here’s a clear breakdown of how I provide these two services—so you can book exactly what you need with confidence.

🔹 Crochet Root Maintenance (also called “Root Work”)
This service involves crocheting loose or overgrown hair at the root and up to 1–2 inches down the shaft of the loc. The goal is to reintegrate loose strands back into the loc, reduce frizz, and give a cleaner, more uniform appearance.

✔️ Maintains a fresh, parted look
✔️ Minimizes daily styling
✔️ Prolongs the time between maintenance (up to 2–6 months depending on hair type, growth rate, and loc maturity)
Bonus: You can safely alternate between crochet maintenance and palm roll retwists without compromising your loc integrity.

🔹 Crochet Retwist
This is a palm roll retwist with a twist. I begin with traditional retwisting at the roots, then use the crochet needle to clean up the parting and pull in any excess loose hair just under the twisted area for a polished finish. This gives the appearance of a fuller, neater root while still maintaining the palm roll method.
