Paul McCormack has been involved in the Newbridge traditional-folk music scene, right back in the days when it was home to Christy Moore and Donal Lunney.
From the 1970s other artist from the trad-folk scene flocked to The Rakes of Kildare, run by McCormack and Nicky Leahy in Newbridge. Everyone who is famous today in Irish music played the club. Christy Moore, Donal Lunny, Luka Bloom, Mary Black, Paul Brady, Andy Irvine, Don Baker, and Liam O’Flynn.
