The “Made in China” or “Made in the USA” tag on your T-shirt is telling you about just one of the likely many stops it made on its production journey. From designing to sourcing, to assembling to marketing, products are rarely made in just one place anymore, not even an all-American Converse. Global trade, with its interconnected supply chains and transport of goods from one part of the world to another, has as many trade-offs as it does benefits. Greenhouse gas emissions, trade wars and deficits are just some of the issues related to global trade.
