(24 May 2017) Clashes erupted between Israeli security forces and Palestinian protesters and activists on Wednesday after Israeli demonstrators marched through the Old City of Jerusalem to mark the 50th anniversary of Israel's capture of the city's eastern half.
Several dozen young Israeli men, some holding Israeli flags, were marching through the Old City's Damascus Gate on their way to the Western Wall when they encountered a group of Palestinian protesters and activists.
Israeli forces moved in, and clashes ensued as they removed the Palestinian protesters and activists from the Damascus Gate.
A number of arrests were made.
