This video is written in QSC Qsys LUA. It uses an EventHandler, and the LUA string.find function.

The string.find command is a built-in function to LUA. It is used to search for a defined string (In this case a text box made in Text Controller) within another string. It returns the position it finds the instance of the string.... if nothing is found, it returns a 'nil' value. If used in an IF & Then statement, any value other than 'nil' is considered TRUE. We also introduce passing the CTRL.String value through the function. We could have used Controls.text.String instead..... another big use for the string.find command is when talking to AV devices and looking for returned strings that denote LIVE Feedback states.
