Closing Sequences of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" with credits

All in good fun (_some all in good fun, some absolutely specific), and spontaneously and unwittingly produced (which does not matter, anyway).

And absolutely _valid_; and nominals are not important. As a known friend related/reminded to me (in so many words): "proper nouns are not important".

Because who a person is has nothing to do with their choices, their enemies, who they are, or what they work to be a part of. Because if they are nothing they should be treated exactly as nothing, and one has to respect the choices of others: one can compromise oneself, but never others. Because one can and does find better whenever one chooses, when one isn't worried about food and paying rent, and one can and must always work to displace and locate and build a correct world, however they can, without compromise and blessed to receive what is worth choosing for. Because there is no compromise if life is real and (L)love is (R)real. If.

The film “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” is based on what Hunter S. Thompson wrote, and the story develops from his persona and the persona of his friend (the lawyer character, based on a true person). But the theme was developed for cinema by others, and they did a pretty good job I think.

I’m a big fan of the closing part of the film.

Note that lawyer friend character embarks on a plane, with the airline called “Desert Air”. There is something about the desert maybe that lends it to developing human beings in the real sense. More than that - the suggestion of “desert” definitely indicates a desirable outcome in the real sense, for the character.

I find it interesting that - as the film ends, after Hunter’s character and his lawyer’s character say goodbye to each other - Hunter is shown driving across the desert. He passes the dessicated skull of a bull. He has the flag of the United States slung like a trophy carcass on the back of his car. He drives past a sign that says “Now Leaving Fear and Loathing, Population Zero”. The sign also has a cow/bull (bovine) skull on it. The bull as far as I know is a symbol of obdurate earthly power and of virility, however otherwise it is also used.

It seems difficult to find this sequence online, maybe studio doesn’t like this section being disseminated as easily (other clips from the film are easily available in good quality). I had some trouble, for example, with some parts of Star Wars when making videos for fair use, while for other parts of Star Wars, I had no trouble uploading at all. Enjoy also the music syncing with the credits. Note, Terry Gilliam and I assume Laila Nabulsi (suggesting Nablus, Palestine presently occupied by great Zionist evil c. 2023 CE). Nobody is free until Palestine is free. If I attended a secret mock religious community which celebrated murder and fraud for lies as a sacrament, certainly I would be an evil person, if I was doing so by choice. **A note on Hunter S. Thompson: my impression is that the man was embedded into “power” and “establishment” at some point during the late 60s and early 70s, possibly because he was vulnerable to vanity, or because he thought he could play with the devil so to speak - but nobody can play with the devil. But I think he was restored for whatever reason when he understood his friend (the lawyer character in the movie) had been disappeared. Note his friend was not a “white”. Hunter was this close to being a ruined person. Or maybe he is a ruined person [sic] but even so he leaves behind important lessons. For myself, I certainly don't think he's a "condemned" person [sic]. **
