Project Noah Nature Class Video to learn all about Grizzled Giant Squirrels!

Video Script: Introducing the Grizzled Giant Squirrel - a large tree squirrel distributed across Sri Lanka and southern India. Its preferred habitat is forests alongside rivers, but it also inhabits highlands, dry deciduous forest and hill forests. Active during the day, grizzled giant squirrels are omnivores – they eat fruits, nuts, small insects and bird eggs. They will also eat the bark of certain trees. These squirrels have terrific vision - but poor hearing. Expertly balancing in branches using their two hind feet and tail, this species lives nearly all of its life high up in the canopy. Natural predators are the black eagle, hawk eagle, python and leopards. Sadly, the International Union for Conservation of Nature lists the conservation status for this species as Near Threatened. Primary conservation challenges are loss of habitat from logging, farming/agriculture and forest fires.
