About Synth Centric:
Hi! My name is Dan Schwebel, and I make music under the name Synth Centric.
I began making music in 2008. Humbly, I had a laptop and a copy of Sony Acid Pro. I eventually graduated to Fruity Loops (now FL Studio), then Reason, before settling on Ableton Live. In the beginning, my music was a poor imitation of hip hop music, with some experiments in Acid House and Techno. As I grew, I began working in studios and eventually sat comfortably as a producer for metal bands, a sound designer for TV and Film and as a synthesist, the only white member of an African reggae/ funk band.
I slowly became disillusioned with the music industry, and set my sight on a career change. I read philosophy at Macquarie University, and obtained a Master of Education from Torrens University. I have taught music production, and built my second career as a professional working within Australia’s adult education system.
Aged now, I have returned back to my roots in music. I am just trying to create, teach and share what I have learned, with the aim of instilling a bit of hope, and fun into the minds of young music producers.
