As one of the main policy reports that will be deliberated by Ministers at the session, the theme study looks at how regional connectivity can create more equitable prosperity across and within the countries of the region. The study examines this thesis from several perspectives, including: the role of connectivity in the context of emerging regional trends such as a greater emphasis on the service sector and use of information and communications technology; the contribution of connectivity and the possibilities for improvement through more multi-sectoral and multi-faceted approaches that include legal, institutional and knowledge frameworks; and the possibility of a regional public goods approach to connectivity and possible ways this could be achieved.
