The Best Skin? DBrand vs. SlickWraps vs. Decal Girl - iPhone 7 skin comparison

Is there much of a difference between these iPhone 7 skins? Short answer is no but we do prefer one over another!

Today I’m going to do a quick video comparing the DBrand skin vs. the Slickwrap skin. I think I covered some of this in my first live video but for those who didn’t catch it, these two skins are pretty much the same in my opinion BUT if I had to pick one, I would go with the D Brand.

So in the next couple of minutes, I’ll go through why I’d stick with DBrand over Slickwraps, why I wish I didn’t buy the front wrap from Slick Wrap and I’ll also talk about how those two compare against Decal Girl! If you’d prefer to read this comparison, head over to my website!

At Mobile Reviews Eh’, we base our reviews on actual usage. Why? Because it just makes sense. Because that’s how I want things to be reviewed. With these wraps, I’ve used them on two different iPhones for several weeks. I’ve gotten them stuck in battery cases which required me to use a screw driver to pry out. I’ve filmed both installations and fit them across a multitude of cases. That’s what I’ve done in order to get to this point.

First of all, if you’re thinking about getting a skin, please note that they don’t provide much drop protection so if you’re clumsy, please get a case. These skins are purely aesthetic based, they don’t serve much of a purpose other than to make your iPhone look nice. Like makeup. Or bicep curls.

So why would I go with D Brand over Slick Wraps? Well, because they have better installation instructions. Both are 3M based products and the cutouts for both are quite similar. I installed my D Brand skin first and there videos has a bit more information regarding the smoothing of the corners. I found the SlickWraps video vague and ended up defaulting to the D Brand instructions while installing the Slick Wrap.

I would be incredibly frustrated with the Slick Wraps if that was the skin I used first.

Now if you’re thinking about getting a Slick Wrap, I’d stick with the back wrap only? Why? Because you don’t have many options for screen protection. The full wrap might look nice but you’re screen is going to be left unprotected. And despite my best attempts, I couldn’t close the gap between the front and back wraps.

A full Slick Wraps package is more than twice as expensive but the prices are the same with the D Brand skin if you get just the back.

Before I get to the comparison with the Decal Girl product, if you know somebody who is looking to get a wrap for their iPhone, share this video with them! Do let them waste their time and money on the wrong product.

Now, it’s hard to compare the D Brand and Slick Wraps skin to Decal Girl because I think they serve different purposes. From what I can see, Slick Wrap and D Brand do not offer custom prints whereas Decal Girl does. I think Decal Girl would be best for people who want to have their own image on their device or having a custom image show through a clear iPhone case.
