Goverment Palace in heart of old town Asuncion is one of the most distictive buildings in Paraguay and somewhere every visitor must see.

The fine building sits overlooking the waters of Asunciojn Bay and in the past when most visitors arrived by river it would have been one of their first sights of Asuncion.

The construction of the Palace began until Carlos Lopez in the mid 19th century but with the delays caused by the War of the Triple Allicance it was not completed until the end of the century.

Until the mid 20th century it was the presidents offical home and continues to house government offices.
