The Bosnian Annexation Crisis of 1908 marks one of the most important episodes in the background to the outbreak of the First World War. Austria-Hungary had annexed the provinces of Bosnia and Herzegovina after 30 years of occupation, which unexpectedly caused a giant diplomatic crisis. It completely destroyed the cooperation between Austria-Hungary and Russia in the Balkans and brought Europe to the brink of war. But what was it about? Who was responsible for causing this crisis and how was it finally resolved? What consequences did it have? This episode will answer all of these questions and many more!
