“We cannot simultaneously do something and say that we are doing it, but what we cannot say we have to show.”

The main piece of the project is a movie. The narrative of the video explores the transfiguration of a fantasy Americana, represented by the diner, into its dark reflection, its Doppelganger. The story narrated in this floating experience is a pretext to explore and assimilate themes of dreams, doubles, and stages, and realize a definition of the ritual of drinking coffee.
The cryptic experience of Dale Cooper’s investigation in Twin Peaks is conveyed by the final display of the project. The objects are spread around the exhibition, apparently unconnected, and lead the spectator to the video. These clues are fragments of the scenes of the movie that were extracted and built on a real scale. Each of them is marked by a symbol, by that means creating a network of objects. The confrontation of real scale and models questions the truthfulness of the images.
Spectators easily notice that they use the same visual language but cannot tell exactly how they are connected without seeing the video. However the point of this collection isn’t merely to understand why these objects work together, but more to grasp the sensation of missing something and to arouse the implication of the visitor. Instead of trying to explicit itself, the project embraces its esoteric dimension and transfigures the spectator from a simple viewer to a symbolic choreographer, a poet.
