1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ Frame Swap

Описание к видео 1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ Frame Swap

This is my 1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ. It's a Sahara edition, with the 4.0 manual. My TJ lived in the Midwest (aka the "Rust Belt" iykyk) it's whole life until now and after decades of road salt eating away like cancer, the worn out frame needed replacing. Modern 4x4's are incredibly advanced and lightyears ahead of what we had a mere 25 years ago, however that's exactly why I decided to put the time, money and patience into restoring my TJ back to life. They just don't make them like this anymore. Jeep LJ's are still the unicorn when it comes to this generation, but relativity clean Jeep TJ's are becoming increasingly rare and prices on them keep going up. Yes I could have cut my losses and taken out a car loan on something newer, but I love the personality of my little Jeep, the no-frills and torquey attitude, no high tech computers or cross traffic alert sensors. Just raw 4x4 fun; the manual connecting you & the vehicle together.

This is by no means a step-by-step video, but there isn't a ton of videos on YouTube of this process. If you noticed towards the end, my Dana 35 rear axle has given up the ghost (surprise surprise) and I have since swapped in a Dana 44 from an LJ.
