(19 Apr 2019) Some 250 Bolivian and Peruvian artists worked together on Good Friday to create a visual representation of the Passion of Christ in sand sculptures.
The artists constructed large sand sculptures of Jesus Christ on the cross and the resurrection at a site just outside the northeastern quadrant of the Bolivian city of Oruro, which is also famous for its carnival celebrations.
Jorge Chacon, an arts instructor and one of the artists participating in the event said the theme for this year was Noah's Ark.
Dozens of visitors came to watch the artists creating their sculptures on Friday, which marked the 16th year of the event.
