Next time instead of telling your kids exactly what to do when they are bored, try out these expert tips from 2nd Grade Teacher and mother to two, Mrs. Cima:

1. Allow their curiosity to come into play
Instead of telling your kids exactly what to do, try saying something like: “Can you think of a new way to play with ________?”

2. Let them play without direction
As long as they can safely play, let them play without direction.

Overtime, they’ll become more creative and more self-sufficient! They’ll no longer have to rely on you to provide them with all the activities they need to do. Instead, they’ll come up with their ideas and build skills that will help them throughout their entire adult lives as well.
