NEWS9 exposes a serious drinking water crisis in Indore, linking contaminated water to at least 15 reported deaths. A Pollution Control Board (PCB) report revealed that water in 59 locations across the city is unfit for consumption, affecting several densely populated areas far beyond Bhagirathpura.

Samples collected from 60 locations during 2016–17 and 2017–18, with results released in 2019, showed that 59 out of 60 samples failed quality standards, with coliform bacteria detected — known to cause vomiting, diarrhoea, and severe stomach pain. Despite three warnings to the municipal corporation, no action was taken. The issue was later escalated to the Central Ground Water Board in Bhopal, raising urgent questions about public health and accountability.
