Sesame Coconut Burfi! Celebrate Pongal, Makar Sankranti, or Bihu with this classic Indian sweet! Made with roasted sesame seeds, coconut, condensed milk, and cardamom, it’s a fragrant, melt-in-your-mouth delight for any festive occasion.

𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦:
Sesame seeds (तिल) - 1 cup
Fresh Coconut, chopped (नारियल) - 1½ cups (white part only, brown outer skin removed)
Condensed milk (कंडेंस्ड मिल्क) - 1 cup (adjust sweetness as needed)
Milk powder (मिल्क पाउडर) - ½ cup
Cardamom powder (इलायची पाउडर) - ½ tsp
Ghee (घी) - 3 tbsp
Chopped nuts & roasted sesame seeds (कटे हुए मेवे और भुने हुए तिल) - optional for garnishing

𝗠𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗗:
Heat a pan on low flame.
Dry roast the sesame seeds on low heat until they crackle and become aromatic. Set aside to cool.
Grind the roasted sesame seeds coarsely and keep them aside.
Then, finely grind the chopped coconut.
Heat 3 tbsp of ghee in a non-stick pan.
Add the ground coconut and sauté on low heat for 2–3 minutes to remove moisture.
Mix ½ cup of milk powder, ensuring the coconut is well coated.
Pour the condensed milk into the mixture and stir continuously on medium heat. The mixture will thicken as it cooks.
Add the coarsely ground sesame seeds and ½ tsp of cardamom powder. Mix thoroughly to combine all ingredients evenly.
Stir constantly until the mixture starts leaving the sides of the pan and forms a soft dough. This step is crucial to avoid chewiness and ensure the right texture.
Grease a tray or plate with ghee and line it with butter paper.
Pour the prepared mixture into the tray and spread it evenly with a spatula.
Sprinkle chopped nuts, and roasted sesame seeds on top. Gently press them into the mixture with a spatula.
Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours to set completely.
Once set, cut the burfi into squares or diamond shapes using a sharp knife.
Serve and enjoy your soft yet melt-in-the-mouth Sesame and Coconut Burfi!
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3–4 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
