Ever wonder how you can float mount your watercolor painting on a budget? To float mount a painting, you can create two hinges out of six pieces of linen hinging tape. I use regular masking tape for this demonstration.

The key is to stick the tape to the back of the painting first before attaching it to the board, which creates a stable mount that keeps the painting even and allows it to go straight into a frame.

This simple technique uses just a 9x12 piece of backing board and basic tape supplies, making it an accessible method for anyone who wants to try float mounting their watercolor paintings.

There are fancier ways of doing this, but this will give you a classy look in a pinch.
