CENTRAL WASHINGTON — Washington Governor Jay Inslee has issued an emergency proclamation related to a severe thunderstorm that happened earlier this month in both Douglas County and Grant County.

Inlsee's office says the thunderstorm on July 10 caused flash flooding and started multiple wildfires, resulting in damage on parts of US 2 and SR 28. The closures of these highways led to limited access to affected roads.

Emergency procurement of contractors are being called to repair the damage.

The Washington State Military Department activated the State Emergency Operations Center for emergency response procedures. They are coordinating resources to support local officials in helping lessen the impacts of the thunderstorm.
