I wanted to do a vid that explored a few dimensions of what we saw in the last episode of TXF we will likely ever get. It mostly made me angry, so automatically my brain started thinking of ways to make it something I could accept or at least explain.
I still maintain that William actually IS Mulders, and we've seen enough evidence of what a seasoned liar CSM is over the years to make that a possibility. Mulder says to Scully in en ami, "he showed you what you needed to see to make you believe"
And there are multiple instances of CSM gaslighting both Mulder and Scully in this way. I think if Scully actually believes CSM is William's father so easily, it would be because it not only confirms her worst fears, but also lets her off the hook in a way in terms of her own guilt for not raising William. It would explain some of her behavior in this ep. What we've seen of her arc is a person who is extremely traumatized on some levels...we saw that after her initial abduction, she clearly had PTSD symptoms and then again after Emily, and again when William was becoming a question mark. She often suppresses the memory of what she cant deal with emotionally, or lashes out, sometimes by acting recklessly or even violently. It's really a horror story for women- what if your autonomy was taken from you? what if your ability to control your body and fate was taken from you?...we know that Scully has always been a control freak anyway, and the idea of losing this so completely, unbalances her...
So what if she believes what Skinner tells her about William because she starts to remember certain details of CSMs actions she'd buried, and then reacts by first emotionally shutting down, and then by taking revenge. I think it's much more plausible, and ultimately satisfying, that SCULLY would be the one who kills CSM in the end, after all the horrible sh*t hes done to her
