The main LO (Logistics) update modes are Direct Delta, Queued Delta, and Unserialized V3 Update. Direct Delta is the fastest, transferring data directly to the delta queue but is limited by the queue size. Queued Delta collects data in a temporary extraction queue and transfers it in batches to reduce the burden on the system. The Unserialized V3 update is best for high-volume data, writing data to update tables first, with a separate job to move it to the delta queue.
Direct Delta
Description: New records are directly transferred to the delta queue (RSA7) with each document posting.
Pros: Fastest method.
Cons: Limited by the delta queue's size (approx. 10,000 LUWs) and can lead to data loss if the volume is too high.
Best for: Systems with a low volume of documents.
Queued Delta
Description: Extracted data is first collected in an extraction queue and then transferred to the delta queue in batches.
Pros: Reduces initialization downtime and handles high-volume documents more effectively.
Cons: Requires a scheduled job to transfer data from the extraction queue to the delta queue.
Best for: Customers with a high occurrence of documents.
Unserialized V3 Update
Description: New data is written to update tables first, and a separate job (the "V3 collective run") moves it to the delta queue, without any specific sequencing of the data in the update queue.
Pros: Does not require a scheduled job at regular intervals for extraction, but requires one for the collective run.
Cons: Data is not processed in a sorted manner, which can be an issue in some cases.
Best for: Applications where data sequencing is not critical, such as Inventory Management.
