Investors that want exposure to the US stock market usually turn to an index fund that tracks the S&P 500 – that’s the traditional path most of us tread! The S&P 500 is one of the most popular indexes in the world and a go-to staple for most investors. But what if there was another potential alternative index that you might want to consider including in your own portfolio?!?!

The NASDAQ 100 index also tracks the US stock market like the S&P 500, but has consistently outperformed it over the last 15 or so years.

In this video I do a bit of a deep dive into the two indices, and look at whether the NASDAQ 100 is capable of replacing the S&P 500 as the new benchmark index when it comes to investing in the US stock market?

I look at how the NASDAQ 100 has performed against the S&P 500, which sectors both of the indices include for, and run through how diversification and market capitalisation play a role in the NASDAQ 100's stellar performance against the S&P 500.
