Описание к видео The Scaffold: Please Sorry

Taken from the Single 'All The Way Up' 1970 on Parlophone Records. Written by Mike McGear. Whenever Liverpool bands crop up in conversation, there's always a gammut of great bands that spring to mind...The Beatles, Echo & The Bunnymen, The La's...the list goes on forever... until you get to The Scaffold...and then it's usually with reference to founder member Michael McGear (nee McCartney) being a Beatle brother. The sad truth for anybody who doesn't already know it is that The Scaffold are one the best, or at the very least one of the most scouse! All three (the other two being Roger McGough & John Gorman) were active alongside each other as early as 1962, but it wasn't until 1964 that they adopted the name The Scaffold and began performing their bizarre brand of Music, Comedy and Poetry. By 1966 Parlophone Records had picked them up and their first single was released, the brilliant '2 Days Monday', followed a few singles later by their biggest hit 'Lily The Pink' in 1968. It was also in 1968 that McGough & McGear released the excellent and cleverly titled 'McGough & McGear', which included an astounding array of stars from the time (Hendrix, Brian Jones, Graham Nash et al all appear...), as did almost everything they made in the 1960's. By 1970 they'd earned their own TV show, 'Score with the Scaffold', and the rest of the early 70's were no less active! They formed Grimms with Neil Innes, Viv Stanshall and Zoot Money amongst others, and released two albums under the name before McGear left, which ultimately led to him recording two solo albums with Paul & Wings titled 'Woman' in 1972 and the more realised album 'McGear' in 1974, although some of the tracks recorded were used by The Scaffold (i.e. 'Ten Years On After Strawberry Jam'...a lost Liverpool classic if ever there was one!). Sadly, by the late 70's they'd disbanded, albeit amicably, although reunions have been held over the years. All three members are still alive and well, still doing their various bits and pieces as they always have with or without each other, and most successfully too! Essentially, they were the epitome of the 'Mersey Sound', and (in my humble opinion) a rather underrated entity in the history of one of the worlds most creative cities!!! Thank u very much!!! Any requests for this to be taken down from youtube will result in their immediate removal. I do not own or claim to own any copywrite with regards to this recording. All rights to the owners.
