What Happened to Remington Steele (1982-87)?

Long before he was James Bond, Pierce Brosnan was a young Irish actor who became an overnight heartthrob when he was signed to star in the NBC series Remington Steele. Co-starring Stephanie Zimbalist, the show was about a female private eye who crested a fictional male boss to be taken seriously, only for a roguish man to show up claiming to be the character she invented. A mash-up of film noir and old-school Hitchcock like To Catch a Thief, the show was a smash and ran for five years. While it made Brosnan a star, it also arguably cost him his first opportunity at playing 007 when the show’s producers wouldn’t let him out of his contract for the abbreviated fifth season (it would also cost Zimbalist the role of Lewis in Robocop).
