Skyroot Aerospace raised US $51 million (Rs 403 crore) in Series-B funding. The company says this is the largest funding round in Indian spacetech.

The startup was founded in 2018 by former ISRO engineers Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharat Daka.

Skyroot is developing the Vikram series of launch vehicles, named after India's space programme founder Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. Vikram series rockets are constructed of carbon fibre and can carry up to 800 kg to Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Skyroot, a 4-year-old company, has built and tested India's first privately developed rocket engines. R&D and production extensively use composites and 3D printing.

In 2021, Skyroot became the first space technology startup to ink an MoU with the national space agency, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for sharing facilities and expertise.
