An experimental film interpretation of the idea of the Nineteen Eighty-Four story.

"There have been 1000's of times through out Human existence where the world seemed like a Dystopian world to the imagination. Most of them happened long before the Greeks, or the Egyptians, or the Babylonians, or the Chinese, or any other culture. Because they didn't have time to form larger societies and cities, before circumstances reset their lives. Whether it was environmental, climate, or self-made. These were enough to hold us back for millennia.

Now, we are at a point where a serious dystopian event could throw us into the types of worlds we really dread. Those like 1984, or even worse, total chaos, like a Mad Max world, where order tries to survive. But it's just not enough. Then come Darker ages, where knowledge is lost. Education becomes rare. Science disappears. It happens, and has happened. If we discovered tools 3 million years ago. How many times was this technology lost and rediscovered because one lone group keep it alive. Which is why progress is so slow when starting over.

So, what is so scary about modern dystopia's? Technology and tracking, and companies with more power over freedom than Governments, or the people. Changing the Governments for company purposes and goals. Keep consumerism going for the sake of control. Track everyone, create crimes that limit people to specific tasks. But the ruling classes, the company people, the government's stooges, all keep the power and control through relentless tracking, creating such paranoia, no one would ever step out of line. If someone does, no one will follow. Fear stops freedom cold. But why? Why live in a world like that? Because, we believe someone will save us. Jesus, or Hitler, or Caesar, whoever is willing to standup against something. But is this the person we want to save us, or are they just the only choice? In these situations, our history tells us the answer.

Society, if it wants to survive in a world we want. Needs to think 1000's of years ahead. Consumerism, Capitalism are old dead ideas. Society needs to get over the materialistic ways of looking at life. Measuring life by things you have, or amass through life. Will these things save you in a dystopian world? Or, will what you know, your knowledge, save you from more suffering? Think about it. The closer we get to the next event, the less time societies have to make these choices. The more advanced we get, the less we know how to survive without these advances. Electronics are the most vulnerable technology humans have ever created. Vulnerable in every way. Even ways other technology isn't. Vulnerable, in ways that can affect all of society in seconds. Solar flares are a serious threat. One, no one has found a solution to prevent completely, and the majority could never afford to protect themselves with what's available.

Dominos are always used as a cascading metaphor. Once they start falling there's no stoping them unless something intervenes.The problem with this analogy is. To do any good, or useful, this intervention needs to happen right away, at the beginning. Because unlike Dominos. The complexity of the world makes each domino hit another new line, and it's all these interconnecting lines of dominos we will never stop. The cascade continues. We can't stop millions of interconnected lines. But we can educate ourselves and change society to a survivable and enjoyable one. Rather than our current alternatives.

This is already happening with global warming. The cascade began decades ago. The dominos have been falling the whole time.

Knowledge is the only thing worth valuing above comfort."
